2010 Invitational Championship Snakeskin Leather Pants League

After the first round of matches I must offer congratulations to the Good ol' Boys for their blistering start, though Shaun's Inca Trailers weren't far behind.

Avatar review
I wasn’t too excited about seeing this film which is strange because it must have been the most talked about film since the final Lord of the Rings film, but I did go see it as the reason it was so talked about was that it was the first full 3D non cartoon blockbuster and going to revolutionise cinema.
The good
Visually amazing, glorious special effects If you didn’t see this film at the cinema on the big screen in all its 3d splendour then it would be like going to a steak house and ordering the seafood platter. Not only will you hate yourself you will have missed out on the really good stuff. It was as groundbreaking as people had predicted before hand. Cinema is now going to change and the possibilities that will come from this will be also as ground breaking. (Like the decision to show the 6 nations rugby game England Vs Wales in 3D across cinemas this February more of this to come in another blog)
The whole world (Pandora I think it was called) that had been created for the film was amazing the concepts they had of being linked to the animals and plants and such like was brilliant, and also the colours and vibrancy of it was something to behold in its self.
The Bad
Unfortunately I personally thought the storyline was weak, predictable and used so many times before. As soon as the story of the big flying red thing was told you knew exactly how it would be back in the story, same with the animals that were too armoured to kill with bullets.
The length of the film also did itself no favours as it was a long time to sit in a cinema, they could and maybe should have made it shorter, being so long made you think about how uncomfortable you were toward the end instead of taking in the glorious special effects and 3Dness. I swear it contradicted itself with the atmosphere as well, but maybe that’s just me.
Verdict
4 out of 7 penguins, not even the brilliant special effects and 3Dness could turn this into a good film but nether the less a must see at the cinema for anybody even slightly interested in films/cinema.

Coleslaw

So Coleslaw......what do you have it with?
It comes from the Dutch word "koolsalade" which means "cabbage salad" and is dated all the way back to the Romans.
This side which basically is just shredded raw cabbage, shredded carrots, vinaigrette and mayo, is a taste sensation. But the real question I want to know is what in the blue cheese goes with it the best?
I don’t know where to start. In my humble opinion I think cole slaw or "slaw" is best at home as a side dish at a barbecue. Goes great with nearly all barbecued meats and very well with corn on the cob. Another favourite to me would be either chips or some kind of potato wedges or the good old jacket potato. Now I have seen on occasion that people put coleslaw with pizza which is fair enough but im not one to mess with my pizza but as a compliment to the crust I can see the logic. One gem I stumbled across just the other day was with Chilli. Chilli as you know needs to be seved piping hot. Either with rice or more preferbly with a jacket if you dolop a lump of the good stuff in with your chilli the contrast in the hot and cold adds something special to the dish. Well worth trying.
Stay safe
